Exped is a Swiss-based outdoor brand founded on the concept of "The maximum outdoor experience with minimal means." The founding couple, who spent nine months living a largely self-sufficient life in the wilderness of northern Canada on their honeymoon, were inspired to create tools that would allow people to engage with nature with minimal equipment. They began operating as an import distributor in the 1980s. They then launched their own brand, EXPED, in the 1990s. Known as the manufacturer of the world's first down-filled air mattress, the brand's signature product is its compact yet highly insulating and comfortable sleeping mat. In addition to down and thin sleeping mats, the brand now offers a wide range of minimalist yet functional gear for comfortable camping and hiking, including tents, hammocks, backpacks, waterproof dry bags, and pillows.
