Outdoor Research is an outdoor brand founded in Seattle, USA in 1981. As the brand name suggests, the brand is based on the concept of an "outdoor laboratory." It has consistently developed gear that solves problems from a scientific perspective, conducting actual testing in harsh mountain environments. The company was founded after a mountaineering accident on Denali, North America's highest peak, when founder Ron Gregg realized the need for gear he could trust with his life and developed his own gaiters and overboots. Since then, the brand has continued to offer a wide range of unique and durable products, including the Seattle Sombrero, the world's first GORE-TEX rain hat; the highly waterproof and durable Crocodile Gaiters; and reliable cold-weather gloves for backcountry adventures. Currently, in addition to gaiters and gloves, the brand offers a complete lineup of waterproof shells, soft shells, insulation, caps, and more, covering everything from head to toe.
