In spring we enjoy the flowers and remaining snow, and in summer we go on adventures deep into the streams. I want to continue this outdoor activity, which I consider to be my life's work. We pondered over what we could do in these circumstances and arrived at the answer: the environmentally conscious outdoor brand "STATIC". Global warming caused by human activities and the resulting abnormal weather and marine plastic waste problems. Outdoor equipment has a significant impact, and in order to protect the outdoor fields we play on, outdoor products need to change. By "substituting" with materials that have a lower environmental impact, we propose "options" for the Earth. With these thoughts in mind, STATIC was launched in 2020. For the first two years, we have focused on thinking about what eco-friendly and functional fabrics are and presenting options. In 2022, our third year, we will continue that mission while going even further. STATIC products: "Recycling fibers from cutting waste" and "Collecting products after use and recycling fibers" This will mark the first step towards a circular brand by producing products using recycled fibers. Wearing winter fur from yaks that live in high altitudes It is extremely comfortable to wear and wraps you in gentle warmth. While using natural materials in outdoor wear, we discovered that yak has a wonderful quality that is different from sheep's wool. Yak natural hair is highly rare and is not mass-produced like sheep's wool. From among these, STATIC chose the one from Tibet. Yak hair, which lives in more mountainous areas, should match our outdoor tendencies. This intuitive encounter resulted in a lightweight, functional product. Unlike sheep, which have undergone much breeding since the Industrial Revolution, yaks are primitive bovine animals that originated in Tibet. They inhabit alpine grasslands at altitudes of 3,000 to 6,000 meters in places like Tibet and Nepal throughout the year, and are active just below the snow line in winter. Yaks are said to be a species with excellent cold resistance. To survive the long winter, they grow downy hair as winter approaches and shed it in the spring. These are collected by nomads, washed, and turned into high-quality raw materials. Nowadays, they are carefully combed by hand, just like cashmere. Unlike sheep, this method does not require shearing all of the wool from the animal's body, and there is no need for mulesing (※), so it is also ethically sound. Yak hair can be collected every year, but only about 100g to 300g can be obtained from one adult yak. Wool weighs about 4kg, so this wool is extremely rare in comparison. The yak hair used by STATIC is from Tibet, with approximately 100g harvested from each animal. We limit the amount harvested so as not to over-harvest and to avoid stressing the yaks. *Mulesing is the practice of removing the skin and flesh from a lamb's genitals to prevent maggot infestation. Made from yak hair that lives at altitudes of over 4000m - Yak hair is very fine, less than 20 microns in diameter and about 3.5-4.5 cm long.
