It is convenient to have chain spikes that follow the flexible soles of soft shoes for hiking in the remaining snow season or high-altitude mountain climbing with remaining snowfields. Since the introduction of Hillsound's trail crampons, it has become realistic for lightweight hikers to actively use chain spikes. Even in the dead of winter, advanced UL hikers actively use them. However, if the essential spikes are stored deep in a backpack, there is psychological stress involved in taking them out. Being able to take out chain spikes without stress at any time is essential for responding to changes on the trail and ensuring safety. The UL Spike Case is perfectly sized for chain spikes and can be stored flat, fitting neatly into the back pocket of a UL pack or easily tucked into packing gaps. The buckle loop of the roll-top opening can be used as a handle to temporarily hang it from a backpack harness or sacoche shoulder strap, increasing convenience for hikers to actively use their spikes. It can also be used to store crampons like the BLUE ICE Harfang, which have become popular in recent years, where the front points and heel parts are connected by fabric or cord and can be folded. The standard storage bags provided by manufacturers are made very small, requiring crampons to be neatly folded and carefully stored. This becomes very difficult when done with thick gloves in the wind and snow of winter. Open the spike case wide, roughly store them, and hurry to your destination (*cannot be used for crampons that are not front/rear separable). Three types of materials are available. The 27g brown waterproof polyethylene sheet is a highly durable specification, the 12g green Cuben Fiber fabric is a 1.43oz medium-heavyweight, and we have newly added X-PAC fabric (45g) to accommodate crampons with large steel teeth. All materials are lightweight yet durable enough for rough handling, and since they are waterproof, they prevent other items in the backpack from getting wet when packing after spike use.
