When hiking in the snowy season or at high altitudes where snow remains, it is useful to have chain spikes that can follow the flexible soles of soft shoes. Since the introduction of Hillsound's trail crampons, it has become practical for lightweight hikers to actively use chain spikes. Even in the harshest winters, advanced UL hikers actively use them. However, if your spikes are stored deep inside your backpack, it can be stressful to take them out. Being able to access your chain spikes at any time without stress is essential to adapt to changes on the trail and ensure safety. The UL Spike Case is the perfect size for chain spikes and can be stored flat, easily fitting into the back pocket of an UL backpack or into gaps in packing. The buckle loop on the roll-top opening can be used as a handle to temporarily hang the case from a backpack harness or the shoulder strap of a sacoche, increasing the convenience of hikers to actively use spikes. It can also be used to store foldable crampons, such as the BLUE ICE Half Fangs, which have become popular in recent years and have a front and heel connected by cloth or string. The standard storage bag provided by manufacturers is very small, so you need to fold the crampons neatly and store them carefully. This can be very difficult to do in the winter wind and snow while wearing thick gloves. Simply open the opening of the spike case wide, store the crampons roughly, and hurry to your destination (*Cannot be used with crampons that do not have a front and back separated design). You can choose from three different materials. The 27g brown waterproof polyethylene sheet is highly durable, the 12g green Cuben Fiber fabric is a medium-weight 1.43 oz., and the new X-PAC fabric (45g) is also available to accommodate crampons with large steel teeth. All are lightweight yet can withstand rough handling, and the waterproof material prevents other items inside the backpack from getting wet when packing after using spikes.
