The Guide Shell was developed and tested for hundreds of hours to be the ideal all-year-round mountain parka. It is made from 4-ounce textured nylon with H2No Plus treatment and features sealed seams on the hood, neck, shoulders, armholes and sleeves for all-weather protection. The upper body is lined with soft nylon mesh to prevent condensation. The lower waist is lined with smooth nylon taffeta to keep snow from getting in. The storm flap that covers the front zipper can be securely closed with a Velcro fastener. The diagonal cut chest pocket has a mesh lining that ventilates the pocket when unzipped, creating a "chimney effect" (the mesh lining ventilates the garment by releasing moisture from the garment into the dry, cool air outside).
