The Blaze, winner of "BackPacker" magazine's "Editor's Choice" award, has been updated. This new model comes standard with a lid. It can be removed for weight reduction to be used in Granite Gear's traditional lidless style, or the lid can be used as a chest pack in front of the body. The main body is treated with highly water-repellent BARRIER coating, and the triple ripstop reinforcement uses an extremely robust ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fabric generally known as "Dyneema." This fabric was also developed exclusively for Granite Gear. The evolved AC suspension makes back length adjustment easier, and the slot position can be easily changed without removing the frame. The molded back panel with ventilation channels is combined with laminated mesh to promote air circulation. The patent-pending infinitely adjustable RE-FIT waist belt can be easily sized with Velcro. The main body has a front zipper for internal access and large side pockets that can hold two 1L Nalgene bottles.
